Severe Storms Likely Statewide Today

By Network Indiana / Stan Sollars, IPR News | Published on in Uncategorized

Indiana could see another round or two of storms today (Thursday) and tonight.

Indianapolis-based National Weather Service Meteorologist Dave Tucek says to expect storms possibly through all day today.

He says some areas might also see more hail. Tucek says winds may also be strong Thursday. He says the Thursday morning commute looks dicey in terms of storm activity.

There have been more storms affecting Indianapolis over recent years and there are fears that these storms could be getting worse. They cause lots of disruptions for those trying to commute due to the poor weather conditions. There is always an increase in the number of accidents when the roads are wet and visibility is poor so drive carefully.

Storms can also cause lots of damage to buildings as they pass through and leave people needing to find roof repair companies and handymen to fix any of the damages before they become a more serious issue.

The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center has the entire state in an enhanced-risk zone for severe weather. This risk is one step up from a “slight risk.”

Tucek says there‘s a chance for another storm late Thursday. He says Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be cooler and dry with temperatures in the 50s and 60s. He says sun is also in the forecast on those days.
